When life gives you lemons, screw the lemonade and wear ’em!
I found this awesome vintage satin skirt at Buffalo Exchange (Fullerton) this past weekend for $13. Not only was it a cheap find, but it’s totally on trend.
Dolce & Gabbana‘s entire spring show was comprised of big, bold graphic prints of vegetables on 50’s inspired silhouettes. It makes sense; produce is literally and figuratively fresh and it’s the most vibrant and colorful section of the grocery store.
In fashion and in life, everything is cyclical. Look around- much of what people are wearing nowadays probably had a previous fashion life in terms of design and style. This is one of the things that makes second hand shopping so easy and great- many of the things that may have been passe five, ten, twenty years ago are cool again.
This past week I’ve been really into dressing with a retro-vibe. After writing about the ultimate vintage vixen Dita Von Teese on Monday, I have felt really inspired to dress with some old school flair and glamour, so I paired this citrus skirt with a crop sweater top, wide elastic vintage belt, retro-inspired platforms and a red lip. The silhouettes from the 50’s and early 60’s work well on a curvy figure like mine, so it’s a major plus that I love these styles.
Fashion is all about flattering what God gave you while having fun and being creative. So, take those lemons, get dressed and go have fun!
