One of the things that I love about wearing vintage is knowing that my clothes have had a prior life. I like to imagine scenarios for these pieces; for example, my 70’s maxi skirt/crop top outfit belonged to a bare-footed, long-haired blonde that wore daisies in a crown and listened to Jimi Hendrix. A wise doctor once said, “we are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” This exact situation is reality for my brother; four years ago he met a total weirdo and fell in love with her. My love for vintage is definitely not a secret, you probably all know this by now. This year of second handing has made me even more obsessed, so much so that I’ve compiled quite the list of vintage greatness that I would happily accept as a gift from any one of you. My birthday is a little more than a month away (November 11, just in case you were wondering), so keep these things in mind.
Vintage desire number one: a badass Mercedes convertible like this early 80’s 380 SL. Classic European cars exude a level of coolness and elegance that a modern vehicle could only hope to one day attain, and no one does it better than Mercedes. Though black would be my preference in color, this red beauty would do justttttt fine.
