A change of season

Photography by Caitlin McCarrick

November is here, and fall is in full swing. The early fall weather in San Francisco is strange and beautiful; just when you think it’s getting cold, a warm, sunny day appears and makes things all better. The full change of season lurks around, threatening to strike at any time. His weapon of choice: rain.

A fashion challenge, it is. My SoCal-bred blood is thin and weak in this cooler climate, and dressing warmly is a must. But can you really look cute all bundled up? Hell. yes.

Coats and boots and scarves and sweaters and socks and hats and gloves… Fall and winter are an accessory lover’s dream, and if shopped and styled correctly, you can be just as chic as your summer counter part.

When I found this coat at Crossroads Trading Co., I knew it would become a fab fall/winter staple. The faux leather arms (hey, it’s Forever 21) and the luxe charcoal body provide warmth and bodily shelter without looking dowdy in the slightest. Coats with beautiful detail that flatter your figure don’t just take your look to the next level, they make it.

Coat, Forever 21, Crossroads Trading Co. (Fillmore, SF), $15

Boots, Modern Vintage, Crossroads Trading Co. (Fillmore, SF), $40
